Living with Bushfire – A Community Conference
An increase in both bushfire occurrence and bushfire severity has meant Living with Bushfire has become part of everyday life for many Victorians.
‘Living with Bushfire: A Community Conference’ was designed to create an opportunity for an exchange of bushfire knowledge between government, science and the community. During the conference, community members, fire experts and fire researchers stood side by side to share stories about bushfire management, survival and preparedness.
The conference provided an opportunity for agencies and communities to get together to discuss issues and share ideas, building relationships and trust.
Living with Bushfire: A Community Conference has been successfully hosted in Gippsland in both 2014 and 2015. Additional conferences are to be held in 2016,17 and 18.
Living with Bushfire – A Community Conference was a stand out application and there were no other finalists.
